Water soaked deep into the ruby toned fur as the brute waded into the current. Muscles tensed as he dropped his head, tongue striking at the cold liquid as soon as his buff muzzle brushed the river's surface. Freki drank in his fill, his aurs tilting back and forth, hunting for sounds of anything that might move around him.
So far, he had not see any other wolves. He had sensed them; the scents of at least two dominate packs marred breezes of the area. He had not crossed into either pack's range yet... instead, he was taking the time to find out what he could about them; scouting his enemies, in a way. If he moved to join, or claim, one of them he wouldn't do so without knowing exactly what he was getting into.
Both seemed barely packs at this point, the scents light and fading; only a few wolves claimed either pack so far. If Freki moved swiftly, the resistances would be much less then if he waited and gave them time to boost their numbers. He could join one... with such small numbers, he doubted much that either pack would turn away a healthy, strong male to boost its chances to hold onto its range.
Somewhere near the far back, opposite him, a bit of brush cracked. Freki froze, his body stilling instantly. A twig snapped, his head came up. Tongue darted over his face, striking the water from his lips as his eyes scanned the edge of the river across from him. Perhaps dinner? Freki doubted it.

She was new to the area, but instantly it felt like home. The ebon wolfess had been wandering the earth for almost a year now, having run away from her past family. If you could even call it a family.. Her past was something she didn't like to think about, and she would never share it with anyone. But this was a fresh new start for her, and her soul finally felt free.
The charcoal coated figure moved swiftly through the forest leading to the river. Her snout lifted, sniffing the cool breezes that lingered in the air. The smell of the river was light and soothing to her senses, and it lured her in. She suddenly emerged from the thick vegetation of the forest and her strange reddish hued eyes gazed upon the flowing water in front of her.
She stopped suddenly to take in her surroundings, and released a sigh of relief. Limbs then maneuvered forward again, carrying her elegantly to the water's edge. Paws sank into the softened earth as she paused beside the river, tiara lowering to the water and tongue lapping it up generously. A strong scent of another specimen drifted past, and her head lifted suddenly, frantic voids searching for the stranger nearby.
She spotted a massive wolf only bounds down the river from her. She gasped and looked away quickly, her gaze returning to the flowing liquid. What is he going to do..? She thought to herself, her brain swirled with uncertainty. Her limbs were frozen still, and she wouldn't look up at him again. If he came over here, she wished he wouldn't try to harm her.

The femme that moved into his vision was not quite what he had expected; wind carried her scent down the rapids, letting him drink in into himself before she noticed him. She didn't smell of on of the Packs here - her fragrance was mixed with wind and wild grasses; another loner then, it seemed.
She looked up, saw him - the moment she darted her eyes away, he couldn't help but grin. He had thought she had seen him first, but it seemed the other way around. Her timid reaction tho drew the warrior's interest; Freki turned and leapt from the currents to the shore in one smooth jump.
Padding along the bank, he kept his gaze on her. She didn't run; either he didn't frighten her or perhaps she hoped he would go away. Freki's long strides carried up bank across from the dark hued femme, but he didn't reenter the frigid water.
Instead, Freki stood for a moment, watching her. Chocolate gaze skimmed over her shape, committing every bit of her to memory encase she bolted. Then, without a word, the crimson and cream brute flopped down on the bank facing her. Folding his paws, he rested his head on knees, he focused his eyes on her again and simple watched her.
(OOC: Oh he's not creepy stalkerish at ALL.... :/ )

She didn't even notice the brute had moved until she heard him breathing close by. Her heart began racing, feeling as if it would break through her chest. She kept her gaze away from him, but audits leaned in his direction naturally, listening as he plopped to the earth. Her limbs began to tremble, and she half expected the brute to launch himself at her, and attack. But she remained still, hoping he would just turn around and leave.
But the strange male wouldn't budge and the shadowed fae finally forced herself to glance in his direction, though her eyes were kept low to the ground, not yet wanting to reveal ghastly voids to the brute. "What do you want?" She hissed, her feminine tones low and seemingly hostile. The vile lyrics were more of a reaction to fear. She wanted to sound tough, and perhaps mean, to drive the brute away, for she feared he was here to harm her.
With that, she uneasily shifted her weight, and returned her gaze to the river. Ears were now pinned back, and brow furrowed in frustration. It was an odd feeling to be afraid, for she was usually the one to strike fear in others. But that was her past, and she was a changed wolf. Though she lacked the normal social skills that the light wolves seemed to have naturally.

He waited, watching her as if she was prey. He wasn't quite sure why she didn't run from him; she seemed as tense as a new mother deer, ready to launch away from him the moment she knew he was too close for her own safety. When she spoke, the venom leaked over her lyrics, making him chuckle. Trying to scare him off?
"Do I need to want something to watch you?"
His vocals were thick and rich, rolling over his tongue and out into the air around them. It came from someplace low, deep in his chest - almost like a growl, but not as threatening.
She was lovely, tho timid seeming. Freki didn't move, not wanting to send her flying off away from him.... not that he probably couldn't catch her, but he didn't want to risk either of them getting hurt.
"What is your name?"

Barren teeth were suddenly tucked away again as she listened to his words. This brute wasn't going to budge. With his first question she answered in her head. You need to get the hell away from me.. She thought to herself. No matter what she did she knew the wolf wasn't going to leave. This frightened her, he could surely be a threat now.
But no matter what her worries were, she remained still. Her limbs stopped shaking, but her body was still tense. She didn't know what kind of game he was playing, but she was in no mood. Baritone vocals struck her eardrums yet again, asking for her name. Her gaze was still held away from him, but she decided to answer. What harm could it do really?
"Cynder." She said, her words quiet but vacant of the previous hostility. "Get it over with, will ya? I'm not one for games." Still her words were calm, but her body began to tremble again. She had basically just invited him to do what he had planned, to attack her then leave her wounded in the dirt. All she could do was wait it out, and prepare herself for what was to come.

"Cynder...."
Freki let it roll off his tongue, playing with the name in his mouth before speaking it. It was like 'Cinder' but a slight difference in the way she pronounced it made it unique. Dark eyes scanned over her, driven by something he couldn't quite place to simply lay and... watch her. The tension in her was intoxicating in a way, holding the blood and bone toned brute in his pose.
Lifting his head slightly, aurs peered to her lyrics as he tilted his crown to the east gently. Get 'it' over with? Had Freki missed something? What did she want him to do? Had she offered something to him and he missed it? It took him a moment to understand - and when it dawned, he could not help the thick, rich chuckle that escaped his throat.
"No... you are much too small to eat for the effort it would take to attack you, and I don't think I want to get soaked coming to get you in that cold water."
His voice wasn't friendly, but it wasn't mean either. It was a warrior's lyric - stern and strong, with a soft coat of the native accent of his pack. He shifted back on his hips a little more, scooting a little more upright in his laying pose as he continued to watch her.
"Are you not cold standing in there?"
